Home appliances are increasingly reliant on plastic gears for quieter, more efficient operation, driving demand in devices used for in the kitchen and elsewhere in a house. The market for home appliances is highly fragmented due to the large number of applications and devices available, each with its specific application trends. For example, kitchen blenders are forecasted to see a substantial CAGR of about 6%, whereas the forecasts for autonomous vacuum cleaners indicate an even more significant projected CAGR of about 15%.
Envalior’s Stanyl® PA46, a high-performance aliphatic polyamide, is trusted by manufacturers globally for consumer good applications. Its high crystallinity ensures exceptional tensile strength, wear resistance, and fatigue performance, making it ideal for compact gear components used in various domestic applications. In gear load cycle tests at 80°C, Stanyl PA46 gears demonstrated 25–50% higher torque resistance compared to polyamide 66 (PA66) and polyoxymethylene (POM). Its melting temperature of 295°C further solidifies its position as the top choice for applications exposed to extreme heat.
For applications requiring low moisture absorption, Envalior’s bio-based Ecopaxx® PA410 provides an excellent alternative with a high gear durability performance at a very low carbon footprint. Its sustainability credentials align with modern consumer preferences for eco-friendly products.
Stanyl PA46 delivers significant cost advantages alongside performance benefits. Gears made from this material are up to 40% lighter than PA66 and POM counterparts while maintaining durability. Unlike PA66 reinforced with costly carbon fillers, Stanyl PA46 achieves good strength and torque resistance performs in many cases without requiring additional expensive additives like carbon fiber or W&F-modifiers.
Additionally, its high flow properties streamline injection molding processes, increasing the injection molding cycle times that help increase production rates. Envalior’s state-of-the-art gear simulation and testing capabilities simulate real-world conditions, ensuring that products meet strict performance requirements while reducing potential costly re-approvals after production.
With more than 30 years of proven performance, Stanyl PA46 helps gear manufacturers exceed OEM and consumer expectations. Its exceptional high temperature performance, wear- and fatigue resistance, and low injection cycle times make it the go-to material for state-of-the-art appliance gears used in blenders, robot vacuum cleaners, washing machines and many other domestic applications.
