Envalior’s Bond-Laminates will present its latest fiber composite innovations at JEC World 2025, focusing on new mobility and sustainability. To better serve growing customer demand in Europe and the Americas, Envalior – a global leader in sustainable and high-performance engineering materials – announces that it will invest in a PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) compounding facility in Europe.

Envalior has announced that its Durethan® C38F polyamide 6 copolymers can be recycled into polyethylene multilayer packaging using waste from flexible polyethylene packaging. This follows a study conducted with cyclos-HTP, which has certified the process. Envalior's next step is to have the product series included in the new recyclable design standard under the German Packaging Act.

Envalior, in collaboration with Ford Motor Company, has been honored with the Most Innovative Use of Plastics award in the "Materials" category at the 53rd Annual SPE Automotive Innovation Awards Competition & Gala, in Livonia, Michigan. The award recognizes the development of a re-engineered Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cold Tube and diffuser, a critical component designed by Ford.

Envalior has partnered with Union Binding Company to create redesigned Travis Rice Falcor Signature Snowboard Bindings. The bindings feature Union's most sustainable design yet, using Envalior's Durethan® Blue nylon. This material is part of Envalior's sustainable product line, made with 90% sustainable raw materials, certified by the ISCC PLUS program for sustainability and supply chain traceability.

Düsseldorf, October 16, 2024 – To fulfill Envalior’s sustainability aim, to be a global leader in sustainable high-performance engineering materials, the company announces its new Sustainability Ambitions and that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

Envalior is highlighting sustainable plastics at Fakuma 2024, Messe Friedrichshafen, Hall B4, Stand 4302, October 15-19. The leading provider of engineering materials is also showcasing material solutions for key future trends such as electromobility, fuel cell technology, autonomous driving, lightweight construction, renewable energy generation, water management and the digitalization of everyday life.

Envalior is excited to announce the launch of Pocan® X-MB series of new polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compounds based on bio-circular 1,4-butanediol (BDO). The sustainable content of the thermoplastics is certified and classified in accordance with the ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) standard.

Envalior is expanding the performance of its Tepex® continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites. These products are now available to its customers with matrices made from polyetherimide (PEI), polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), polyamide 4.6 and 4.10 (PA4.6 and PA4.10) as well as thermoplastic copolyester elastomers (TPC-E).

When it comes to manufacturing electric vehicles (EVs), there is a high level of demand for halogen-free, flame-retardant compounds based on polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) achieving the top V-0 classification in the UL 94 flammability test. Two new compounds from Envalior meet this requirement. Pocan® BFN4232HR is specially designed for high-voltage applications in EV. While Pocan® BFN4221Z is designed for housings components.

The strong powers and high voltages in electric vehicles, the general trend toward miniaturized device components and the ever-decreasing distances between metal contacts (pins) in connectors and terminals have led to pronounced growth in demand for highly tracking-resistant plastics with the highest insulation class. Envalior is supplementing its portfolio of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compounds with a dedicated series of highly tracking-resistant material types. This Pocan® E product range has now been expanded and refined.

Envalior is focusing its development activity on PBT compounds for laser transmission welding and plans to expand the corresponding product range. In doing so, it can rely on three proved technologies. These three technologies allow us to offer an extremely versatile product range of laser-weldable Pocan® and Arnite® PBT compounds with a wide variety of properties.

Fabric roofs for convertibles are highly complex assemblies when it comes to safety, look, and functionality. Designing them is therefore always challenging. The example of the new convertible from a German premium automotive manufacturer illustrates the new opportunities that high-tech thermoplastics open up in the design of such parts. Its fully automatic fabric acoustic soft-top is equipped with a roof crossmember at the front that is made from the lightweight Tepex® and Durethan® structural materials from Envalior. They act as substitutes for magnesium. Envalior will present the crossmember at the Fakuma 2024 trade show.

Envalior announces that it has partnered with KOKI TECHNIK Transmission Systems GmbH, a leading Transmission Shifting Systems manufacturer, to deliver a shift fork used within an E-Powertrains Decoupling Unit. KOKI chose ForTii® ACE PPA for its shift fork application because the material offers extreme high stiffness up to 160°C, design freedom and maximum wear resistance without the need for additional bushings.

The new polyester Pocan® B3234HR S2 (PBT) from Envalior has been released recently. This hydrolytically stabilized compound offers outstanding adhesion with a primer-free applied, thermally quick-hardening single-component silicone adhesive that is already widely used on the market.

Envalior is offering a new composite under the Tepex brand that, even with very low test specimen thicknesses, passes the standard thermal runaway tests for electric vehicle battery housings. The high resistance of this composite to the extreme conditions of a battery cell fire can be attributed to the non-flammable long and continuous fibers that reinforce the material in a multi-layer structure.
