Envalior gebruikt afgedankte visnetten om de op recycling gebaseerde polyamide te produceren Akulon RePurposed. We gebruiken de materiaal die zijn teruggewonnen uit de visnetten die langs de kusten van India zijn verzameld. Voordat ze worden samengesteld, worden de visnetten behandeld en geüpcycled met behulp van lokale arbeidskrachten.
Met deze nieuwe productlijn draagt Envalior bij aan schonere oceanen. In plaats van afgedankte visnetten op het strand of in zee te gooien, worden de visnetten ingezameld voor recyclingdoeleinden. Het product heeft ook een uitgebreide positieve sociale impact in termen van het scheppen van banen, samen met de ontwikkeling van nieuwe vaardigheden en kennis van mensen die in de toeleveringsketen werken (d.w.z. het verzamelen, sorteren, schoonmaken en verwerking van visnetten). Het eindproduct is een glasvezelversterkte polyamide op basis van recycling met uitstekende functionele eigenschappen.
Akulon RePurposed wordt gebruikt in high-end toepassingen in het sport- en vrijetijdssegment, zoals voor surfplankaccessoires. Het kan ook worden gebruikt in een breed scala aan andere toepassingen, waaronder meubilair en industriële toepassingen.
